Argyll And Bute Council (Various Streets, Luss) (Traffic Management) Order 202_
Further to the Notice of proposals of Thursday 22 April 2021, Argyll and Bute Council proposes to make a traffic order introducing traffic management on the roads listed below, to preserve and improve the amenities of the area (Luss Village) and to improve road safety by providing new traffic management measures and to reduce inconsiderate and irresponsible parking and minimise traffic flow. Roads affected by the Order:
* U228 Old A82 ? U253 School Road
* U61 Church Road ? U354 Murray Place
* U233 Pier Road
A summary of the proposals is as follows:-
* The Prohibition of Driving within the core village area that will prohibit all vehicles except for access to premises within that area, which comprises mainly residents and business owners;
* The same core village area will be covered by a restricted parking zone that will prohibit waiting of all vehicles unless displaying a permit. Permits will only be available to residents and business owners located within the defined zone;
* These proposed traffic management arrangements are required to be implemented to support local residents and the local economy, safeguarding access for blue badge holders, for deliveries and to maintain access for emergency services vehicles as well as ensuring road safety;
* Parking (waiting and loading) will also be prohibited on the Old A82 except within marked parking bays, which will be time restricted to provide short stay parking adjacent to Luss primary school and local shops; and
* Visitors wishing to stay for longer periods will be able to park in the Council's off street car park, or in a new car park to the south of the village, both situated nearby.
The Council has referred the proposed Order to an Independent Reporter Mr Mike Croft, for review. The Reporter will review the maintained objections and has arranged for a public hearing to be held, commencing on Tuesday 23 August 2022, at the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel, Luss. The hearing will commence at 10a.m. and will be chaired by the Independent Reporter.
