PUBLIC NOTICE GEOPHYSICAL VIBROSEIS SEISMIC SURVEY
TESLA EXPLORATION INTERNATIONAL LTD has been commissioned by EGDON RESOURCES UK LTD to undertake geophysical surveying operations within a 75 square kilometre area with individual routes traversing the southern part of Dorchester and the parishes of Winterborne Monkton, Winterborne Herringston, Bincombe, Winterborne Came, Broadmayne, Whitcombe, West Stafford, West Knighton, Poxwell, Osmington, Crossways, Warmwell, Owermoigne, Chaldon Herring, Winfrith Newberg.
The survey will be part of Egdon's evaluation of the potential for hydrocarbons to be trapped within geological structures within the area. Egdon emphasise that they consider that the geology within their two licences in Dorset is not appropriate for there to be any potential for shale-gas. The drilling of a future exploration well would require detailed Planning Consent and would not include any proposal for hydraulic fracturing operations.
Works will be conducted in accordance with Part 22 Class B of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995, and are expected to commence in mid-September 2013 and last for a duration of approximately 4 weeks.
Part 22 Class B of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995,
Operations will include the marking out of individual survey routes by means of small wooden marker pegs and/or painted reference numbers being positioned at regular intervals along road verge and/or carriageway edge. A small diameter surface laid cable with an attached microphone spread will then be spooled out along the verges of each survey route in turn. Where a cable crosses a road or driveway entrance, access will not be hindered, as the cable will be placed in protective rubber matting. Cables can safely be touched or driven over. The cable spread will be left in position for approximately 10 to 14 days before being retrieved. Once cable positioning is complete along a survey route, a convoy of two or more slow moving specialist tractor units will then travel along the road, and at regular intervals stop and send a vibration frequency signal into the ground. It is anticipated a distance of between 3 to 4 kilometres will be covered by these units per day.
Please be aware some surveying operations will be conducted along the highways and roads within the area, and as a consequence some minor traffic delays may be encountered.
TESLA Exploration International Ltd would kindly ask for your patience and co-operation during the survey, and apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused. All properties fronting each survey route will receive an information leaflet prior to cable laying operations commencing. Close daily liaison will be maintained throughout the survey with the appropriate Highway Services, County, District and Parish Councils and Police.
