Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A282 Trunk Road and connecting roads in the County of Kent and the Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise, in two distinct phases: -
1. the overnight closure of -
(a) the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 and M25 between the crossover 495 metres north of the centreline of the A1090 underbridge and the crossover 138 metres north of the centreline of the A206 (M25 Junction 1a overbridge);
(b) the road leading to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Junction 1a (A206), including the fast link leading from the westbound A206 at the western roundabout;
(c) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Purfleet Interchange (M25 Junction 31/A1306); and
(d) the road leading to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 at Princes Road Interchange (M25 Junction 1b)
(A225/A296).
2. a contraflow on the Dartford crossing allowing anti-clockwise traffic to travel over the QEII bridge.
It is expected the first phase would start on or after Saturday 23rd July 2022 for one night. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake a function test on the tunnels emergency back-up and safety systems, maintenance activities, defect repairs and all associated works. The second phase would start on or after Saturday 24th September 2022 for one night. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while an Emergency Service exercise is undertaken.
The closures for both phases would take place between 20:30 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 22nd July 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closure would be diverted via other junctions of the A282. The temporary closures, contraflow and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
