West Roundabout to Thursby, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

The County Of Cumbria (A595 Newby West Roundabout To Thursby Roundabout, Near Carlisle) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd to carry out highway works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the A595, near Carlisle from its junction with the Newby West Roundabout, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 6km to Thursby Roundabout. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available as follows:
Motorway permitted vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of the A595, B5305 Sebergham, Skelton, Hutton-in-the-Forest, M6 (Jcts 41 and 43), A69 Warwick Road, Victoria Place, Georgian Way, Hardwicke Circus, Castle Way, Bridge Street, Church Street and Wigton Road.
Vehicles not permitted to use the motorway: Wigton Road, Church Street, Bridge Street, Castle Way, Hardwicke Circus, Georgian Way, Victoria Place, Warwick Road, Eastern Way, A6 London Road, Jct 42 Golden Fleece Roundabout, A6 Low Hesket, High Hesket, B5305 Hutton-in-the-Forest, Skelton, Sebergham and unrestricted section of the A595. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email
quoting the reference CA-22-40. The Order will come into operation on 3 July 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 22 nights, between 1900 hours and 0600 hours, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
