Various Roads Barrow, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads, Barrow) (Barrow Festival Of Transport) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Barrow Festival of Transport ("the Event") on various road in Barrow-in-Furness, the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:-
A. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road in Barrow-in-Furness : -
(i) U6189 Dalton Road, from its junction with the U6186 High Street to its junction with the U6187 Buccleuch Street
(ii) U6190 Scott Street, from its junction with the U6189 Dalton Road to its junction with the U6190 Dalkeith Street
(iii)U6188 Cavendish Street, from its junction with the U6189 Dalton Road to its junction with the U6190 Dalkeith Street (iv)U6190 back Dalton Road/Dalkeith Street, from its junction with the U6188 Cavendish Street to its junction with the U6190 Scott Street.
(v)U6190 back Dalton Road/Dalkeith Street, from its junction with the U6190 Scott Street to its junction with the U6187 Buccleuch Street.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
B. Temporarily suspend the existing Prohibition of Driving restrictions along the following lengths of road but only for those vehicles taking part in the Event: N.B. the existing exemptions other than for Police, Fire or Ambulance Service will not apply.
(i) Dalton Road, Barrow-in-Furness, between its junction with Cavendish Street and its junction with Buccleuch Street; and
(ii) Dalton Road, Barrow-in-Furness between its junction with Harrison Street and its junction with Cavendish Street; and (iii)Portland Walk from its junction with Dalton Road to a point 155 metres west of its junction with Stephen Street
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Event. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email

The Order will come into operation on 16 July 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date.
