Somerset County Council Various Roads, Taunton [Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles) Order 2022 (Taunton Live and Pride Event)
Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary prohibition of vehicles as detailed in the Schedule below. The Order will be made to facilitate the 2022 Taunton Live and Pride Event and is in the interest of public safety. The Order shall come into operation on 7th July 2022 on the roads, date and times as specified in the Schedule below and will remain in force for eighteen months. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles, residents requiring access and egress and any vehicles associated with the event. Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles between the hours of 1100 and 1300 on Saturday 16th July 2022 East Street, Taunton - From the junctions with East Reach and Hurdle Way in a westerly direction to Fore Street
Corporation Street, Taunton - From the junction with Castle Way in an easterly direction to the junction with Fore Street Fore Street, Taunton - For its entire length Hammet Street, Taunton - For its entire length The Bridge, Taunton - From the junction with Wood Street in a southerly direction to the junction with St James Street
North Street, Taunton - From the junction with St James Street in a southerly direction to the Parade Roundabout
Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or
b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
