Experimental Traffic Order 2022
Notice is hereby given that on 07/06/22 North Yorkshire County Council made an Order under Sections 9 & 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to extend the speed limit on part of the A6131 Harrogate Road, Skipton to 40 mph, from a point 65 metres east of its junction with the road to Overdale Park, measured from the centre line of the road to Overdale Park, to a point 36 metres south of its junction with the A6S Skipton bypass measured from the south channel line of the A6S Skipton Bypass, for an experimental period of 18 months.
A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 24/06/22, together with a map showing the road affected & a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order may be inspected at County Hall, Northallerton & at Embsay-with-Eastby Community Library, The Institute, Main Street, Embsay-with-Eastby, Skipton BD23 6RE, during normal office hours from 16/06/22 until 23/12/23 & also viewed online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/roadworks-map or at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/traffic-regulation-orders.
The County Council will be considering, in due course, whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within a period of 6 months from the coming into force of the Order, or if the Order is subsequently varied or modified, from the coming into operation of that variation or modification (whichever is the later), any person may object to the making of an Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation.
Any person wishing to object to the Indefinite continuation of the Order must state the grounds for their objection, in writing, addressed to Area 5 Skipton Highways Office, Snaygill Industrial Estate, Keighley Road, Skipton, North Yorkshire BD23 2QR or by email Area5.Skipton@northyorks.gov.uk or via the website link above by 23/12/22. If any person wishes to question the validity of the above Experimental Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, they may, within 6 weeks of 07/06/22 make application to the High Court for that purpose.
