THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN COCKERMOUTH, WORKINGTON, WHITEHAVEN AND KESWICK AREAS)

(LAKESMAN TRIATHLON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION)

ORDER 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Lakesman Triathlon ("the Event") on and near roads in Cockermouth, Workington, Whitehaven and Keswick, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the 1984 Act), the effect of which is to impose the following restrictions only on the days and during the hours specified below;

A. Prohibit any motor vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road: -



(i) U2936 Lake Road, Keswick from its junction with the B5289, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 460m



There is no suitable alternative route available for motor vehicles

Anticipated duration: From 0001 hours on 18 June 2022 to 1200 hours (midday) on 20 June 2022.

(ii) B5289 High Hill, Keswick, from its junction with the A66, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 930m A suitable alternative route for motor vehicles will be available via the A66 and the A5271 Crosthwaite Road



(iii) U2880 Church Lane, Keswick, from its junction with the B5289 High Hill, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 210m



There is no suitable alternative route available for motor vehicles.

(iv) U2219, Keswick, from its junction with the B5289 High Hill, extending in a south westerly direction for approx.



255m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for motor vehicles.

Anticipated duration: Between 1830 hours on 18 June 2022 to 2359 hours on 19 June 2022.

(v) A5086, Cockermouth, from its junction with the A66, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 195m. A suitable alternative route for motor vehicles is available via the unrestricted section of the A5086, A595 and A66. Anticipated duration: Between 0600 hours and 1000 hours on 19 June 2022.



A way for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times during the restrictions that are detailed in A above.

B. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day, and from loading or unloading at any time, on any day, along the following lengths of road;



(i) Both sides of the U2219, Keswick from its junction with the B5289, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 255m; and



(ii) The western side of the A591 Crosthwaite Road, Keswick from a point approx. 130m south east of its junction with the A66, extending for approx. 170m in a southerly direction; and



(iii)Both sides of the U2880 Church Lane, Keswick from its junction with Vicarage Hill, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 250m.

Anticipated duration: From 1800 hours on 18 June 2022 to 2359 hours on 19 June 2022

C. Prohibit any vehicle from making a right turn as follows:-



(i) From the A595 Loop Road, Whitehaven onto the A5094 Inkerman Terrace, Whitehaven; and



(ii) From the A597 Solway Road, Workington onto the A597 Viaduct, Workington; and (iii)From the exit of the West Lakes Science Park onto the A595 Egremont Road, and;



(iv) From the B5295 Ribton Moorside, Hensingham, Whitehaven onto the A595 Loop Road. Suitable alternative routes will be signed on site as appropriate.

Anticipated duration: Between 0800 hours and 1200 hours (midday) on 19 June 2022.

D. Prohibit any vehicle which is proceeding in a north westerly direction along the B5297 Station Road, Workington, from entering the A597 Viaduct.



Anticipated duration: Between 0800 hours and 1200 hours (midday) on 19 June 2022.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles including mountain rescue vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and



2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and



4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Event.



5. Apply to vehicles making deliveries to business premises within the restricted lengths of road, providing the Event organisers deem it safe to do so; and



6. Apply to vehicles transporting staff members to/from business premises within the restricted lengths of road, providing the Event organisers deem it safe to do so; and



7. Have the effect of preventing vehicular access/egress to residents of the properties on High Hill, Crow Park Road, Vicarage Hill and Church Lane, Keswick, providing the Event organisers deem it safe to do so; and



8. Have the effect of preventing vehicular access/egress to Crosthwaite Church; and



9. Have the effect of preventing vehicular access/egress to residents of the properties known as Derwent Island House, Derwent Island Cottages and Waters Edge, providing the Event organisers deem it safe to do so.



The restriction detailed in A(i) above, relating to Lake Road, Keswick shall not apply to any motor vehicle, which is being used for the purpose of enabling patrons/customers of the business premises known as Theatre by the Lake to attend those premises on Saturday 18 June 2022 but only between the hours of 1700 and 2359, providing the appropriate card has been issued by the Theatre by the Lake and is displayed in the vehicle, and providing also that the Event organisers deem it safe to do so.

The Order will come into operation on 18 June 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum period of up to three days from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, although it will only be required on the days and at the times detailed above.
