STANLEY GHYLL LOWER FALLS, ESKDALE PARISH TEMPORARY PROHIBITION
OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2021 NOTICE IS GIVEN that under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Secretary of State has further extended the Order made by the Lake District National Park Authority on 14 June 2021. The effect of the order is to prohibit all public traffic for all purposes from proceeding over that section of footpath 408037 between the bridge at SD 1742 9958 and the lower waterfalls
NOTICE IS GIVEN that under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Secretary of State has further extended the Order made by the Lake District National Park Authority on 14 June 2021. The effect of the order is to prohibit all public traffic for all purposes from proceeding over that section of footpath 408037 between the bridge at SD 1742 9958 and the lower waterfalls at SD 1743 9953, because of danger to the public - as the path has been damaged/ destroyed, made unstable, and not safe to use by recent rockfalls.
The Order was made on 14 June 2021 and has now been extended until 31 May 2023, or until we have carried out as yet unknown restoration and rock stabilisation works. The notice and plan showing the route concerned may be inspected during normal office or opening hours at the National Park Authority Offices, Murley Moss, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL; at Copeland Borough Council, The Market Hall, Whitehaven, CA28 7JG; and at Holmrook Post Office, Tynedale Farm Services, Farm Shop, Holmrook, Egremont,

If the works have not been completed the closure may be extended for a further period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
