(WOMENS CYCLE TOUR STAGE 6) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2022

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Order, which will have effect on Saturday 11 June is to facilitate the holding of the national cycling event and is promoted by Andy Hawes, Route Director, SweetSpot Group Ltd, 1 Horizon Business Village, 1 Brooklands Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0TJ. and will consist of up to 100 competitors with various support vehicles, and an unknown number of spectators.

The Council is satisfied that it is not practicable for the event to be conducted off-road. Moving traffic restrictions will apply variously throughout the route, with static restrictions at the start (Chipping Norton 04:00-14:30hrs) and finish location (Oxford 04:45 - 19:00hrs). The cycle event itself is planned to commence in Chipping Norton approximately 11.00am to its conclusion in Oxford City approx.3:00pm.

The route runs from Chipping Norton via Over Norton, Great Rollright, Hook Norton, Wigginton, Milcombe, South Newington, Great Tew, Enstone, Charlbury, Burford, Shilton, Carterton, Alvescot, Clanfield, Faringdon, Fernham, Uffington, Wantage, Harwell, Didcot, Wallingford, Abingdon, Radley, Kennington, Oxford.

The times shown .* indicate the approximate times cyclists should pass through. Local diversions and appropriate information signs will be used to indicate the route.

Rolling Road Convoys will be used from the start area under control of Police and route marshals for the safety of competitors, spectators and other road users. This means traffic will be held for short periods of time throughout the route to allow unimpeded progress for the cyclists.

Oxford City Static Closures: 04:45 - 19:00hrs Beaumont Street, St Giles (to Little Clarendon Street) and Banbury Road to junction with Parks Road.

Additional matters:
Broad Street: Bus and taxi services will be transferred from St.Giles. The vehicle loading bays and Street Traders bay on the south side will be suspended.

The alternative City through-route for traffic is via: Worcester Street, Walton Street, Kingston Road, St.Margarets Road and vice versa.

There will be exemptions for emergency services and ongoing highway works, and for managed access to property.

The relevant parts of the following traffic orders will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the event:
