Yarm Lane, Sedgefield, Temporary Byway Closure

(Temporary Byway Closure) Order 2021

The above-named Order made by the Council on 5/11/21, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 15/11/21 has been continued in force from 15/5/22, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 15/5/24 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on 3.3 kilometres of Byway Number 12, also known as Yarm Lane, that extends southwards from Neasless Farm, Sedgefield to enable culvert, surfacing and settlement works to be undertaken. Alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure from A177 south westwards on Stockton Road then westerly toward Thorpe Leazes and Whitton to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa. Alternative routes for pedestrians are available via the public right of way networks west of the closed byway. There are no alternative routes for equestrians.
