A406 GLA Roads, Temporary Prohibtion of Traffic

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A406 GLA ROADS (NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD AND SOUTHEND ROAD, LONDON BOROUGHS OF REDBRIDGE AND WALTHAM FOREST) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.



2. The purpose of the Order is to enable safety camera maintenance works to take place at A406 Southend Road/North Circular Road.



3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from entering, exiting or proceeding on the:



(1) unnamed A406 on-slip road between its junctions with A104 Woodford Road roundabout junction (locally referred to as Waterworks Corner) and the eastbound carriageway of A406 Southend Road/North Circular Road;



(2) southbound carriageway A406 Southend Road/North Circular Road between its junctions with the A406 off-slip road Southend Road and the A406 unnamed on-slip road connecting the roundabout at the junctions of North Circular Road, Eastern Avenue and Redbridge Lane East (known as Redbridge Roundabout) to Southend Road/North Circular Road.



The Order will be effective at certain times from 17th May 2022 and 20th May 2022 each night 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM (ceasing at 5:00 AM on 20th May 2022) or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:



(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;



(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for



London.

5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via: Southend Road/North Circular Road (westbound carriageway), Southend Road/ North Circular Road off-slip road, roundabout junction with Chingford Road (A112), Billet (B179) and Wadham Road (known locally as Crooked Billet) and Southend Road/North Circular Road (eastbound carriageway) to normal route of travel; A406 off-slip Road Southend Road, Charlie Browns Roundabout, A1400 Southend Road, A1400 Woodford Avenue, Gants Hill Roundabout, A12 Eastern Avenue and Redbridge Roundabout to normal route of travel.
