THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976
RATE OF FARES FOR LICENSED HACKNEY CARRIAGES

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Epsom and Ewell Borough Council in pursuance of section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 intend to bring into operation a revised maximum rate of fares for Hackney Carriages operating within the Borough of Epsom and Ewell commencing on 20 May 2022.
The changes are to keep the maximum fare consistent with those set by Transport for London for their licensed Hackney Carriages, specifically; -

- Minimum fare: Increased from £3.20 to £3.80

- Tariff 1: Increased by 5.51 per cent

- Tariff 2: Increased by 5.51 per cent

- Tariff 3: No change

- Tariff 4: No change

- Heathrow Extra (only relevant to hackney carriages dual licensed to operate in that area): for taxi journeys that start from a taxi rank at Heathrow Airport. Maximum charge increased from £2.80 to £3.60

- Heathrow drop-off charge: Taxi drivers can add a charge of up to £5.20 to the fare when dropping off passengers in one of the terminal drop-off zones at Heathrow Airport unless their taxi has been registered tor a Blue Badge Concession

A copy of the notice and proposed rates may be inspected at the Town Hall, The Parade, Epsom, Surrey during normal office hours for a period of 14 days from the date of this publication of this notice. Objections to the proposed fares together with the grounds on which they are made must be sent in writing either to Licensing at the Town Hall address or to licensing@epsom-ewell.gov.uk by 19 May 2022.
If no objection to the variation duly made within the 14-day period, or if all objections so made are withdrawn, the variation shall come into operation on 20 May 2022.
