Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to that Act, hereby has made the Wigan Borough (Windermere Road, Leigh) (Prohibition of Driving) (Experimental) Order 2022 which will come into operation on 16th May 2022. The effect of the Order is to prohibit driving, for an experimental period of 18 months, on:
? Windermere Road, Leigh, from its junction with Gordon Street to its junction
with Glebe Street, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-9:30am and 2:30pm-4:00pm There will be limited exceptions for persons possessing an authorised School Street Permit, the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading. NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN Wigan Borough Council will be
considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be
continued in force indefinitely. Any person may within the period of six months
from the coming into force of the Order, object to the making of the Order for the
purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any such objections to the Order must
be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the
Assistant Director - Legal, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan quoting reference
RD/LS/SEC/C108.407 not later than 28th October 2022.

Notice of a Meeting of The Council to consider Opposition to a Hybrid Bill
Pursuant to the provisions of section 239 of the Local Government Act 1972 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a meeting of The Council of the Borough of Wigan ("the Council") will be held at the Council Chamber, Wigan Town Hall on 25th May 2022 at 1 pm to take into consideration, determine the expediency of and authorise (if thought fit):
1. Opposition by the Council to the High Speed Rail Phase 2b Western Leg (Crewe - Manchester) hybrid Bill ("the Bill") introduced into Parliament on 24th January 2022
2. Subject to the above, delegate authority to the Acting Director Economy and Skills, in consultation with the Leader of the Council or the Portfolio Holder for Planning, Environmental Services and Transport and the Assistant Director - Legal or his nominated representative, to take all such steps as may be necessary to give effect to the above resolution including all those steps required for the Council to submit any petition and thereafter to maintain and if considered appropriate authorise the withdrawal of any petition points that have been resolved in respect of the Bill, and to negotiate and/or seek assurances/ undertaking/agreements to the Bill.
