Cobblestones Lane, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

An D Bessy Ban K Lane, N Ear Lowick) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Network Plus to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road:

1. Cobblestones Lane (The Causeway), near Haverthwaite from its junction with Lanes End, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 80m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Cobblestones Lane, Back Lane, Finsthwaite Lane, A590 and Lanes End (Ref: SL22/5/20)
2. Bessy Bank Lane, near Lowick, from a point approx. 330m east of its junction with Crake Side Lane, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 50m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Bessy Bank Lane, Brandrake Head, Waste Bridge, Colton Hill Road Spark Bridge and Crake Side Lane (Ref: SL22/5/21) A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by
statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
(ii)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the
direction of a police constable in uniform; and
(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for
pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads,
or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and
only from the roads; and
(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email

The Order will come into operation on 23 May 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
