Comforth, Temporary Speed Restrictkion and Prohibition of Driving

(A177, Stobb Cross Lane, Harap Road & Unc 35.17, Comforth) (Temporary Speed Restriction, Prohibition of Driving and Road Closure) Order 2022

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit and restrict all vehicular traffic from l.Travel at a speed in excess of: 30 mph on A177 between a point 225 metres south of the southern extent of the dual carriageway to a point 225 metres north of the northern extent of the dual carriageway 2. Prohibition of driving: On a 560 metre length of A177 southbound dual carriageway in the vicinity of Harap Road staggered crossroad, a. Additionally traffic will be prohibited from travelling at a speed in excess of 10 mph under the direction of a lead convoy vehicle operating on the northbound carriageway 3. Road Closure: a. Stobb Cross Lane that extends westerly from A177 for a distance of 20 metres, b. Harap Road between A177 and C23. c. Unclassified road 35.17 that extends south westerly from A177 for a distance of 75 metres to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. Alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the A. Eastern side of the closure in 3.a. northerly and westerly on A177 and turning southerly onto Thinford Road then south on C69 toward Cornforth then easterly on C67 to Station Road and Stobb Cross Road leading to the western side of the closure B. Western side of the closure in 3.b. northerly on A177 and turning south easterly onto C23 leading to Harap Road C. North eastern side of the closure in 3.c. southerly on A177 turning westerly on Stoneybeck Lane and continuing westerly on High Street then northerly on Unc 35.17 to the south western side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 20/5/22 from 7pm to 6am nightly and are anticipated to be completed in 9 nights. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
