The M6 Motorway (Junction 42 Northbound & Southbound
Carriageways) (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the City of Carlisle, in the County of Cumbria, to enable structural repairs to the central and two end piers, to be carried out in safety. The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on all traffic on the following sections of the M6 Motorway:

i) on the northbound carriageway, from a point 3,180 metres south of the last point at which the exit slip road at J42 leaves the carriageway, to a point 400 metres south of the last point at which the exit slip road at J42 leaves the carriageway;

ii) on the southbound carriageway, from a point 500 metres north of the last point at which the exit slip road at J42 leaves the carriageway, to a point 1,400 metres south of the first point at which the entry slip road at J42 joins the carriageway.

The restrictions will be in place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on
Thursday 5 May 2022 and ending at 06:00 on
Friday 8 July 2022.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods or until completed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 4 May 2022 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information, contact
