Application Ref: 21/000029/CM Applicant: NRS Ltd
Proposal: Proposed importation of inert restoration material and extraction of sand to enable engineering operations for stability purposes and completion of site restoration Location: (Western portion of the former) Sandy Lane Quarry, Wildmoor, Worcestershire I give notice that on 13 April 2022, NRS Ltd wrote to Worcestershire County Council submitting further information in relation to the Environmental Statement regarding ecology and biodiversity (Habitat Regulations Assessment). The County Council are now seeking comments on this further information. On 30 July 2021, NRS Ltd applied to Worcestershire County Council for planning permission for the above proposal. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The proposed development does not accord with the provisions of the development plan as the proposal is not located within an identified preferred area for sand and gravel extraction within The County of Hereford and Worcester Minerals Local Plan (April 1997) and the application site is located within the Green Belt. The development may affect Public Rights of Way and may affect the setting of Listed Buildings and a Scheduled Monument.
The applicant is seeking planning permission to remove approximately 245,000 tonnes of sand and import 975,000 cubic metres of inert materials over a period of six years. The objective of the application is to enable a buttress wall to be keyed into the eastern part of the site to stabilise the exposed face, and to facilitate the complete final restoration of the former Sandy Lane Quarry. The County Council sought comments on this planning from 18 August 2021 until 29 September 2021 and from 9 February 2022 until 16 March 2022.
