(C4 and C8S High Urpeth) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2022

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) and pursuant to arrangements with Gateshead Council under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 1.83 kilometre length of C4 from its junction with New Road at Baytree Terrace, High Handenhold to its junction with Cranberry Bog Road, and also a 1.12 kilometre length of C85 between its junctions with C4 and St Benets Way, Ouston to enable carriageway patching repair works to be undertaken. Alternative route from the north western side of the closure south westerly via Cranberry Bog Road to Hammer Square Bank, south easterly via Station Road to High Handenhold to the southern side of the closure, or continuing onto A691 to Perkinsville then northerly on C5 Ouston Lane and westerly on St Benets to the north eastern side of the closure, and vice versa, with an additional route signed via C8S north easterly turning east onto Ouston Lane then southerly to the previously described route. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 3/5/22 from 7.30am to 3.30pm daily and are anticipated to be completed in 9 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
