Notice of Proposals


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act of 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.538) Order 2022. The effect of the Order will be to add a loading bay on:

Road

Lemon Street, Tyldesley  East  5 metres south of its junction with Elliott Street  15 metres south of its junction with Elliott Street  On any Monday -Friday, 10am - 4pm

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; or the avoidance of an accident. The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed. A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, and of the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order will be available upon request, please email

if necessary. Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director - Legal, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan quoting reference RD/LS/SEC/C108.395 not later than 13th May 2022.

Footpath Atherton No.71 - Temporary Diversion Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure & Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Footpath Atherton No.71) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2022.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using Atherton No. 71, from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 367015 402470 from its junction with Bee Fold Lane to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 367730 402489 at its junction with Millers Lane, for a distance of approximately 718 metres in an easterly direction.
An alternative route is available from Point A on the Order Map in a southerly direction down Bee Fold Lane for approximately 125 metres to its junction with public footpath Atherton No. 70 as shown on the Order Map at Point D, then easterly along public footpath Atherton No. 70 for a distance of approximately 765 metres to Point C on the Order Map at its junction with Millers Lane, then north along Millers Lane for a distance of approximately 186 metres to Point B on the Order Map This public footpath will be closed for a period of 6 months commencing on
22nd April 2022.
The Order is necessary to enable development to take place and safeguard the public.
