The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads In The South Lakeland Area) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) (No.2) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out surface dressing works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.
Cumbria Highways will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email
quoting the reference SL21/701. The Order will come into operation on 20 April 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 day within the 3 month period from 20 April 2022 and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Extent Of Restrictions And Alternative Routes
1. A685 Appleby Road, near Kendal - Approx. duration 1 day
From its junction with Mealbank Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 680m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A685, A683, A684 Sedbergh, U5856 and the A685
2. A684 Whit Beck House to Swarthgill, near Sedbergh - Approx. duration 1 day
From its junction with Cock Brow, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 730m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, B6259, A685 Kirkby Stephen, A683 and the A684 Sedbergh.
3. A5074 Lindeth Fell, near Windermere - Approx. duration 1 day
From its junction with B5284, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 490m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5074,
A590, A592 and the B5284.
4. A683 Hodge Bridge, near Barbon - Approx. duration 1 day
From its junction with High Road, extending in a southerly for approx. 820m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A683, A65 Kirkby Lonsdale, Endmoor, Kendal, A6, U586 and A684 Sedbergh.
North Bound Vehicles should proceed through Kendal using the A6 then re-join the main diversion detailed above.
5. A6 Beetham - Approx. duration 1 day
From its junction with Hangbridge Lane, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 240m towards Milnthorpe. There is no suitable alternative route available.
