Notice ID: BOU2381182

Notice effective from
7th April 2022 to 7th May 2022

ALLOCATION OF 2 NEW WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE HACKNEY CARRIAGE LICENCES

On 11th September 2021 Southampton City Council's Licensing Committee approved a process to re-distribute lapsed licences for hackney carriages. Two licenses have lapsed. Plate 031 and Plate 233. The purpose of this notice is to advise interested parties of the availability and the allocation process. Objectives and Criteria It is likely that more than 2 applications will be made and therefore it may be necessary to allocate the available licences by ballot to those applicants meeting the council's objectives and application criteria. These criteria are set out in the procedure which can be accessed through our website: https://www.southampton.gov.uk  and search for hackney carriage licence allocation policy.
The council wishes to avoid any discrimination in favour of, or against, any group. Because of the limited number of licences available, the council will not consider multiple applications by any individual or applications made on behalf of third parties.

Application forms will be available on our website or from our office. They will be accepted on or after 11th April 2022. Any applications received before this date will be rejected.

The public ballot for new licences will be carried out on 19th May 2022 at 10am in the Council Chambers and overseen by the Service Director of Legal and Business Operations. This ballot will determine the 2 new hackney carriage licences to be issued in 2022, plus an additional 5 applicants to form a reserve list should any of the first 2 applicants determined be unable to meet the criteria for the grant of a licence or withdraw for any reason.
