Section 16a (Watlington - Charity Cycle Event)
(SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2022 Date of Order: 25 April 2022 Coming into force: 8 May 2022 Notice is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make an order to facilitate the holding of the Maggie's Everesting Team Cycle Challenge' Charity bike ride on Sunday 8 May. It is promoted by Pip Dingle, Centre Fundraising Manager, Maggie's Oxford, Old Road, Oxford, OX3 7LE. The County Council is satisfied that it is not appropriate for the event to be held off road. Possibly 100 or more cyclists are expected to participate over the 15 hour period.
The effect of the order, and to ensure safety of participants and supporters, is that between 6am and 9pm traffic will be temporarily prohibited with No Waiting from using Hill Road from Christmas Common junction to a point 100 metres below the Ridgeway Crossing, a distance of approximately 1,800 metres.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and subject to the safety and progress of the race, for controlled access to property which is only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for the closure will be signed to the south via Howe Road/Howe Hill, Christmas Common and vice versa.
