Notification of Planning Application
Development of National Significance (DNS) Proposed renewable energy hub at land on the Wentlooge Levels to the west of Hawse Lane A DNS planning application is currently being prepared for the Erection of a Renewable Energy Hub comprising ground mounted solar panels and battery storage units (160 units) with an installed generating capacity of up to 125MW, underground cabling, grid connection hub, associated infrastructure, landscaping and environmental enhancements, for a temporary period of 40 years. The battery storage element of the component represents a secondary consent with reference to the Developments of National Significance (Specified Criteria and Prescribed Secondary Consents) (Wales) Regulations 2016). The proposals seek to provide green energy for over 37,500 homes and save over 53,000 tonnes of C02 per annum.
The application is intended for submission as a Development of National Significance (DNS). This means that it will be determined by Welsh Ministers based on planning merits and national priorities. Plans for the scheme and further details relating to the project can be viewed at:

As part of this consultation, we now invite the views and comments of the local community so that these may be considered and addressed in the preparation of the final submission.
