LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
COMMONSIDE EAST, MITCH AM  (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022


1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works in Commonside East, Mitcham, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works, no person would cause or permit any vehicle to: (a) enter or proceed in Commonside East, Mitcham, the main arm, between its junction with Manor Road and its junction with Cedars Avenue; or (b)wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in the length of Commonside East specified in paragraph (a) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the length of road specified paragraph 2(a) above would be suspended for the duration of the works.

4. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to: -

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions in any emergency; or

(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or lengths of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed as follows:-

(a) eastbound traffic via Commonside West (A236), Upper Green East, London Road, Raleigh Gardens, Holborn Way, London Road, Lock's Lane, Eastfields Road, Tamworth Lane, and Manor Road; or

(b) westbound traffic via Manor Road, Tamworth Lane, Eastfields Road, Lock's Lane, London Road, Holborn Way, Upper Green West, Upper Green East, and Commonside West.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order would come into operation on Wednesday 27th April 2022 and it is anticipated that the works would be carried out nightly from that date for 3 consecutive nights between the hours of 8pm and 5am the following day. However, the Order would remain in force for 12 months should further works be required.

FERN AVENUE, CR4 (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022


1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate service pipe relay works in Fern Avenue, CR4, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works no person would cause or permit any vehicle to:-

(a) enter or proceed in Fern Avenue, CR4, between the common boundary of Nos. 2 and 4 Fern Avenue and the common boundary of Nos. 8 and 10 Fern Avenue; or

(b) wait, including for the purposes of loading or unloading, in the length of road specified in paragraph 2(a) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the length of road specified in paragraph 2(a) above would be suspended.

4. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed via Sherwood Park Road, the South Lodge Avenue roundabout and Chestnut Grove or vice-versa.

6. Nothing in the Order would apply to: -

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions at the time of any emergency; or

(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or length of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting prohibition imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order would come into operation on Monday 25th April 2022 with the works expected to be completed within 5 days. However, the Order would remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.
