(North Bailey, Durham) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2022

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on up to 100 metres of North Bailey that extends southwards from its junction with Owengate, Durham to enable crane delivery works to be undertaken. Alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic under 3.5 tonnes from the northern side of the closure from Market Place easterly via Claypath two-way slip to A690 Leazes Bowl roundabout then southerly on New Elvet and Church Street then westerly on Quarryheads Lane to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa. A speed restriction of 10 mph and no more than 3 vehicles on 'Prebends Bridge will also have to be observed across the bridge during the works. * Non DCC road. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 20/4/22 from 10am and are anticipated to be completed in 6 hours. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
