Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) Parish Of Wylam Public Footpath Number 9 (Temporary Public Footpath Closure) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State has agreed to extend the above named Order to prohibit the use by pedestrian traffic on Parish of Wylam Public Footpath No 9 for the length outlined below, in the County of Northumberland. The length of Public Footpath No 9 which is affected is as follows:-

From the south-eastern end of Stephenson Terrace in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 500 metres following the northern bank of the River Tyne, to a point 275 metres east of Wylam Nursery. There is an alternative route available using existing public rights of way over the former Wylam Waggon Way

The Order which came into force on 4th October 2021 and which would have expired on 4th April 2022, will continue to be in force until 4th April 2023 or until completion of the works, whichever is the sooner.

The closure has been requested by Neighbourhood Services in the interests of public safety, due to severe riverbank erosion.
