Lewes Road/Natal Road/The Highway, Temporary Traffic Restrictions

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER -LEWES ROAD, NATAL ROAD, THE HIGHWAY


1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 16th March 2022 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will be done in phases and only have the following effect as and when signed:-

Phase one - Southbound closure -
(a) The temporary suspension of the Northbound Bus Lane Order along Lewes Road from a point 10m north of the junction of Coombe Road to a point approximately 60m north of Saunders Park View north access.

(b) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Saunders Park View north access into Lewes road.

(c) The temporary closure of Natal Road at the junction of Lewes Road

(d) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Lewes Road into Natal Road.

(e) The temporary closure of The Highway at its southern access onto Lewes Road

(f) To maintain access for residents the Prohibition of Driving Order in Natal Road from a point 8 metres south of the southern kerb line of the North West arm of Natal Road (north of Mithras House) will be suspended and gate opened

Phase two - Northbound Closure -
(a) The temporary suspension of the southbound Bus Lane Order along Lewes Road from a point approx. 177m north of its junction with Natal Road southwards to its junction with Coombe Road.

(b) The Temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Natal Road into Lewes Road.

(c) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Lewes Road into Natal Road.

(d) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from The Highway at its southern access onto Lewes Road.

(e) The temporary closure of Saunders Park View north access at its junction with Lewes Road.

2. The Order is necessary to allow Contractors to fix cladding on the foot bridge as part of the Brighton University Development.

3. A signed diversion for vehicular traffic will be in place where needed.

4. This Order comes into force on the 21st March 2022 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
