(VARIATION ORDER)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited(a) intends to vary The A31 Trunk Road (Cadnam to Ashley Heath) (Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2021(b) originally made on 27th October 2021. The effect of the Variation Order would be to impose extensions to the existing 50mph and 60mph speed restriction provisions as follows:

a) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between a point approximately 300 metres east of the tip of the nosing of the exit slip road at Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338) and a point approximately 450 metres east of the centreline of the eastern Southampton Road overbridge at Poulner Interchange;

b) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between a point approximately 500 metres west of the centreline of Breach Lane and a point approximately 40 metres west of the centreline of the western overbridge at Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338); and

c) all the roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described above, with the exception of the roads leading from the westbound carriageway and to the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Salisbury Road Interchange (A338/B3347), which would remain at 50mph irrespective of the speed in force on the main carriageway.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety.
The variation would come into force on 1st April 2022.
