Ashley Road (B290) Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Ashley Road (B290) Epsom as extends from its junction with (A24) Ashley Avenue to its junction with the access to the property known as "Woodcote Grove"; Alternative Routes: Southbound - Ashley Road; A24 Ashley Avenue/South Street/High Street; Church Street; Downs Road; Tattenham Corner Road Roundabout; Ashley Road; Northbound - Ashley Road; Tattenham Corner Road Roundabout; Downs Road; Church Street; A24 High Street/ A24 Ashley Road; and (b) suspend "The Borough of Epsom and Ewell (Various Roads) (One-Way Traffic) (Amendment) (No.4) Order 1974" in its entirety. This Order, which will commence on 01 April 2022 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: carriageway surfacing and/or major highway maintenance works. Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure and suspension will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. The one-way prohibitions in Heathcote Road and Worple Road will be suspended to allow access for residents whilst works are taking place. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.
Chalk Lane (D2066) Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Chalk Lane (D2066) Epsom as extends from its junction with (D2456) Woodcote End to its junction with (X67674) Chalk Paddock. Alternative Routes: Clockwise -Chalk Lane; Woodcote Green Road; Woodcote Road; Avenue Road; Worple Road; Ashley Road; Langley Vale Road; and Chalk Lane; Anticlockwise - Chalk Lane; Langley Vale Road; Ashley Road; Worple Road; and Chalk Lane. The Order is required to facilitate - (a) telecoms poling and/or cabling and/or utility maintenance works to be carried out by, or on behalf of BT Openreach within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day between the hours of 8am and 6pm commencing 01 April 2022; and (b) mains gas and/or mains water and/or sewerage works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Shannon Pipe Contractors and/or JW Clark within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 weeks between the hours of 8am and 6pm commencing 02 April 2022. Works are anticipated to be completed within 2 weeks of the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order which commences on 01 April 2022. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. For both sets of works access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, vehicular access for residents and the emergency services will be via the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
