M4 AND A329(M) MOTORWAYS TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M4 and A329(M) Motorways in the Unitary Authority of Wokingham, under Section 14(1)(a) and (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public and serious damage to the road. This forms an extension of Temporary Notice HE/2022/E100 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992, Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to impose a 24-hour speed restriction of:-
1. 50 mph on the southbound carriageway of the A329(M) between points 100 metres and 500 metres south the road leading to the east-bound carriageway of the M4;
2. 40 mph on the southbound carriageway of the A329(M) between points 500 metres and 700 metres south of the road leading to the east-bound carriageway of the M4; and
3. 40 mph on the road connecting to the westbound carriageway of the M4 from the southbound carriageway of the A329(M) at Junction 10 (A329(M)). These measures are in the interests of road safety to mitigate the danger posed by a bank slippage.
The Order comes into force on 24th February 2022 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the slippage is rectified.
The temporary speed limits will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when in operation during the danger period.
