ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A21 GLA ROAD (BROMLEY ROAD/ BROMLEY HILL/ LONDON ROAD AND TWEEDY ROAD, LONDON BOROUGHS OF BROMLEY AND LEWISHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2022
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway improvement and resurfacing works to take place on the A21 Bromley Road/ Bromley Hill/ London Road and Tweedy Road.
3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
(1) entering or proceeding on Bromley Road southbound between its junctions with Beckenham Hill Road and Old Bromley Road, local access will be maintained;
(2) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on A21 Bromley Road/ Bromley Hill/ London Road/ Tweedy Road between its junctions with Old Bromley Road and Gordon Way;
(3) entering or proceeding on Tweedy Road between its junctions with Widmore Road and Gordon Way, local access will be maintained;
The Order will also;
(4) allow all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the A21 Bromley Road/ Bromley Hill/ London Road/ Tweedy Road between its junctions with Widmore Road and Beckenham Hill Road;
(5) allow two way operation on Hammelton Road between its junctions with London Road and College Road;
(6) allow two way operation on Oakridge Road between its junctions with Oakridge Lane and Bromley Road.
Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.
The Order will be effective at certain times between 28th February 2022 and 7th July 2022, every night 9:00 PM until 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. Southbound via Beckenham Hill Road, Rectory Road, Croydon Road, Upper Elmers End Road, Elmerside Road, Croydon Road, Long Lane, Lower Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road, Wickham Road, High Street, Glebe Way, Farnborough Common, Hastings Road, Bromley Common, Masons Hill and Kentish Way to normal route of travel. Northbound via Bromley Common, Oakley Road, Croydon Road, Glebe Way, Wickham Road, Shirley Road, Lower Addiscombe Road, Long Lane, Croydon Road, Rectory Road, Southend Road and Beckenham Hill Road to normal route of travel.
