Taxi Fare Increase
Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 provides for a District Council to fix the rates of fares for Hackney Carriage Vehicles (HCV). It may fix the fares on time as well as distance and any other charges that may be made in connection with the hiring of the vehicle. Notice is hereby given that Darlington Borough Council proposes to make a variation to the maximum its hackney carriages can charge by means of a table of fares for a journey set out below. Objections to the proposed variations should be made in writing to the Licensing Manager and sent to Licensing Department, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington DL15QT or e-mail to

to be received no later than 28th February 2022. If no objection is duly made or if all objections duly made are withdrawn, the variation will come into operation on the 1 st March 2022 or the date of withdrawal of the objection or, if more than one, of the last objection, whichever date is the later. If objection is duly made and is not withdrawn, the Council shall set a further date not later than two months after 1 st March 2022 on which the variation will come into force with or without modification as decided by the Council after consideration of the objection(s). A copy of this Notice has been deposited at the Town Hall Licensing Department and may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours.
