NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of order 1 - due to proposed improvement works at the A41/Ploughley Road junction - is to introduce a 40mph speed limit. This will replace the national 60mph in its entirety, extending southwards from the A41 for approx. 760 metres to meet the existing Ambrosden 30mph speed limit terminal point.
(Proposals for a 40mph speed limit on the A41 Bicester - Aylesbury road in the vicinity of the Ploughley Road junction have been covered by the recent Bicester area speed limit review proposals.)
The Oxfordshire County Council (Ambrosden, Arncott, Blackthorn, Merton And Piddington Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2020 will be replaced/ revoked as necessary. The effect of order 2 is to introduce a 'Right Turn' prohibition for vehicles at the A41 Bicester - Aylesbury road from the Ploughley Road. Traffic travelling north on Ploughley Road will be required to make a left turn onto the A41 to travel westwards towards the Graven Hill roundabout. A 'Left Turn' prohibition will also be introduced for traffic travelling west on the A41 preventing entry into Ploughley Road.
Additionally, the existing bus top located on the A41 Bicester - Aylesbury road approx. 125 meters west of the junction with Ploughley Road will be relocated to a point approx. 110 metres further west - a point opposite "Wretchwick End Cottages". This will be accompanied by a new 'Bus Stop Clearway' which will prevent parking except for buses at all times.
