LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976 HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Richmondshire District Council in accordance with Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 propose to set the maximum fare charged in a licensed Hackney Carriage for the period 2022/2023 and until further notice:
Tariff one Inclusive of VAT
For each journey not exceeding 1/2 mile, or part thereof £2,70_
For each subsequent 1/10 of a mile or part thereof £0,22_
Waiting time for each period of 1 minute or part thereof £0.20
Tariff two
For hirings begun between 23.00h and 07.00h Tariff one plus 50%
Tariff three
For hirings begun between 18.00h Christmas Eve to 07.00h on 27 December and 20.00h on 31 December to 07.00h on 1 January & midnight to midnight all Bank Holidays
Tariff one plus 100%
Extra charges for cleaning a vehicle where it has
been soiled by passengers [maximum charge]_£100
For each person* more than four [*or two children under the age of 11 count as one £0.70
Booking Fee - A maximum booking of £4.00 [one way only] is payable provided the amount is agreed with the hirer at the time of booking and that the customer is told this will be in addition to the metered fare. A copy of this notice will be deposited at the Councils Office, Mercury House, Station Road, Richmond, DL10 4JX and will be open to public inspections without payment during normal office hours. Any objections to the proposed increases should be made in writing stating the reason of objection and be sent to Licensing, Richmondshire District Council, Mercury House, Station Road, Richmond, DL10 4JX or emailed to
with 'Taxi Tariff Consultation', this must be received within 14 days of the publication of this notice. If no objections are made or if all objections so made are withdrawn, the proposed increase shall come into operation on 1st March 2022, or at the date of withdrawal of the last objection, whichever is the later, subject to approval of Richmondshire District Council. If objections are duly made and not withdrawn, Richmondshire District Council shall set a further date no later than two months after the date specified above on which the proposed increases shall take effect with or without modifications, as decided by Richmondshire District Council after consideration of any objections.
