M25, M1 AND A1(M) MOTORWAYS TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M25, M1 and A1 (M) Motorways in the County of Hertfordshire and the London Boroughs of Barnet and Harrow, under Section 14(1 )(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise: -
1) the overnight closure of -
a) the northbound carriageway of the A1 (M) between Junction 1 (M23 Junction 23/A1) and Junction 3 (A414/A1001), and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway;
b) the hard shoulder adjacent to the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 between a point 870 metres west of the centreline of Shenley Lane (B5378) overbridge and the centreline of Park Street Lane;
c) the hard shoulder adjacent to the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 between Chorleywood Road overbridge and a point 470 metres south of the overbridge;
d) the hard shoulder adjacent to the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 between a point 220 metres south of Solesbridge Lane overbridge and Chorleywood Road overbridge;
e) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 18 (A404);
f) the road leading from the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 19(A41);
g) the road leading from the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 21A (A405);
h) the road connecting from the southbound carriageway of the M1 to the southbound carriageway of the A41 at Junction 4 (A41); and
i) the road connecting to the northbound carriageway of the M1 from the northbound carriageway of the A41 at Junction 4 (A41).
2) Overnight alternating hard-shoulder closure and running associated with inside or outside lane closures (the hard shoulder would be used when the outside lane is shut and closed when the inside lane is shut) on the following roads-
a) both carriageways of the M1 between Junction 3 (London Gateway Services) and Junction 6 (A405); and
b) both carriageways of the A1 (M) between Junction 2 (A1001) and Junction 3 (A414).
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway, drainage, signage, geotechnical, electrical, bridge, barrier and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 months starting on or after Wednesday 9th February 2022. The overnight closures would take place between: - (maximum periods subject to area restrictions)
Mondays-Thursdays 21:00 - 05:30
Fridays 22:00 - 06:00
Saturdays 21:00 - 06:00
Sundays 21:00 - 05:30
The Order would come into force on 7th February 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when all phases of the work are complete. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via other junctions of the M25, M1 and the A1 (M) or by using the A41, A404, A414 and the A1081. The diversion route would vary depending on the closure in force. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period. J Downham, an Official of National Highways Limited.
