ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council ('the Council') has on 8 December 2021 made the Orders named below under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when they come into operation on 20 December 2021 will make permanent the following changes:-
Brighton & Hove (Various Restrictions) (Old Town Area) Order 2021 (TRO-11b-2020)
- Prohibition of Motor Vehicles in Bartholomews, Duke Street (between Middle Street and Ship Street), East Street (between Bartholomews and Kings Road - existing prohibition for Saturday and Sunday will still apply). Kings Road (between East Street and A259), Little East Street, Middle Street (north of Boyces Street), Prince Albert Street and Ship Street.
- A Prohibition of Driving in Ship Street between North Street and Duke Street
- A Prohibition of Driving in Market Street and Brighton Place between 11am and 7pm
- Closure of Black Lion Street from a point 42 metres north of the Lanes Car Park entrance to its junction with Prince Albert Street.
- One-Ways (except pedal cycles) in Bartholomews, Black Lion Street, Duke Street (between Middle Street and Ship Street), East Street, Kings Road (between East Street and A259), Little East Street, Middle Street (North of Boyces Street), Prince Albert Street and Ship Street (between North Street and Prince Albert Street)

Brighton & Hove Various Controlled Parking Zones Consolidation Order 2018 Amendment Order No.23 2021 (TRO-11C-2020)
- Shared permit and paid bays removed in Bartholomews and reduced in Black Lion Street.
- Exclusive paid bays removed in Bartholomews, Duke Street, Middle Street and Prince Albert Street
- Disabled bays removed in Prince Albert Street and new or relocated bays installed in Ship Street and Bartholomews
- Motorcycle bays removed in Bartholomews and Duke Street and the bay in Black Lion Street increased.
- Electric Vehicle Charging bays removed in Bartholomews
- Loading bays removed in Ship Street, reduced in East Street and new bays in Black Lion Street and Bartholomews, the bay in Prince Albert Street relocated and extended
- Pedal Cycle Parking Places in Bartholomews extended.
The changes described above were originally the subject of an experimental traffic order that was advertised on 2nd July 2020: Brighton & Hove (Various Restrictions) (Old Town Area) Experimental Order 2020 (Ref: TRO-11-2020) and its subsequent amendment Order; Brighton & Hove (Various Restrictions) (Old Town Area) Experimental Order 2020 Amendment Order No.1 2020 (Ref: TRO-11a-2020) that was advertised on 27th November 2020.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of either of these Orders or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
