Notice effective from
2nd December 2021 to 1st January 2022

ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON UPON THAMES
CLAYTON ROAD, CHESSINGTON

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames propose to make the following Orders under sections 6 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985:

- The Kingston upon Thames (30 mph Speed Limit) (No. *) Traffic Order 202*;

- The Kingston upon Thames (Width Restriction) (Revocation No. *) Traffic Order 202*; and

2. The general effect of the Orders would be to:

(a) remove the existing width restriction from Clayton Road (between "The Dell" and the entrance to the Northfields Junior Livery Yard). The width restriction would be replaced with a "priority system" where south-eastbound vehicles would be required to give way to on-coming north-westbound vehicles;

(b) extend the 30mph speed limit in Clayton Road westward by approximately 170 metres (so that it would terminate at a point approximately 15 metres east of the bridge over the A3), to replace the existing 40mph speed limit in this length of road; and

(c) prohibit good vehicles, the maximum gross weight of which exceeds 3.5 tonnes from entering or proceeding in the length of Clayton Road which lies between the north-western kerb-line of Oaklands Close and the entrance to the Northfields Junior Livery Yard.

3. The Council also intends to construct a speed hump immediately east of the entrance to the Northfields Junior Livery Yard, under section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999. The speed hump would extend across the entire width of the carriageway with a maximum height not exceeding 100 millimetres.
