THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (HOPGROVE ROUNDABOUT TO CLAXTON AND PICKERING INTERCHANGE) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited Intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the District of Ryedale, to enable pavement resurfacing and reconstruction, road marking, stud replacement and drainage works to be carried out in safety.
that Highways England Company Limited Intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the District of Ryedale, to enable pavement resurfacing and reconstruction, road marking, stud replacement and drainage works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 25 October 2021 for 8 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, overnight between 8pm and 6am, and between 8pm Friday and 6am Monday, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph, 40mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 500 metres west of Barr Lane to 556 metres east of Scotchman Lane, a distance of 5730 metres. The 10mph speed restriction will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle.

(ii) close the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from Hopgrove Roundabout to 410 metres east of Scotchman Lane,

a distance of 7750 metres;
(iii) close the A64 westbound carriageway between the exit slip road and the entry slip road at the A169 Pickering Interchange,

a distance of 664 metres; and
(iv) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the above mentioned (ii).

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available. It will also be necessary to close, for 24 hours a day for the duration of the works, from 00:01 on Monday 25 October 2021 the laybys adjacent to the above mentioned (ii). Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A64. The Order comes into force on 24 October 2021 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
