(WOMENS TOUR STAGE 1, BICESTER - BANBURY CYCLING EVENT) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2021
Order to be made: 27 September 2021 Date of Event: 4 October 2021 NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order, which will have effect on Monday 4 October is to facilitate the holding of the national cycling event and is promoted by Andy Hawes, Route Director, SweetSpot Group Ltd, 1 Horizon Business Village, 1 Brooklands Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 OTJ. and will consist of up to 100 competitors with various support vehicles, and an unknown number of spectators. The Council is satisfied that it is not practicable for the event to be conducted off-road. Traffic restriction measures will apply variously throughout the route and in particular at the start and finish locations.
NOTICE
The cycle event is planned to commence in Bicester at approx.11.00am to its conclusion in Banbury approx. 3.30pm (from Bicester to Islip, Woodeaton, Marston, Cowley, Garsington, Clifton Hampden, Abingdon, Cumnor, Eynsham Bladon, Deddington, South Newington, Broughton, to Banbury and a loop through Banbury to Bloxham before finishing back at Banbury). The roads in Bicester and Banbury town centre will be restricted for some hours before and after these times to enable closures, set-up, staging, media etc. There will also be a closure in Abingdon town centre.
Local diversions and appropriate information signs will be used to indicate the route. Rolling Road Convoys will be used from the start area under control of Police and route marshals for the safety of competitors and other road users. This means traffic will be held for short periods of time throughout the route to allow unimpeded progress for the cyclists. Bicester closures from 4am: (No Driving, Waiting or Loading) Market Square, Causeway, Church Lane, Chapel St (Chapel St Car Park to junction with Causeway) Manorsfield Rd -from Hanover Gardens Roundabout to Causeway.
