ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14
THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (CLINT BRIDGE) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in County Durham, to enable drainage and cyclic maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on 23 September 2021 for 2 nights or until completed and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in County Durham, to enable drainage and cyclic maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on 23 September 2021 for 2 nights or until completed and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, to:
(i) Impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageway from a point 1750 metres east of Clint Bridge overbridge to a point 675 metres east of Clint Bridge overbridge, a distance of 1075 metres;
(if) Impose a temporary 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageway from a point 675 metres east of Clint Bridge overbridge to a point 300 metres west of Clint Bridge overbridge, a distance of 975 metres;
(iii) Close the A66 westbound carriageway from a point 460 metres east of Clint Bridge overbridge to a point 1750 metres east of Clint Bridge overbridge, a distance of 1290 metres;

(iv) Close the A66 westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads at Bowes Village;

During the carriageway and slip road closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available. Traffic management will be in force and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 22 September 2021 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
