(Temporary Public Right of Way Closure) Order 2021
The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of public rights of way between Sunderland Bridge and Croxdale; A) Bridleway Number 1 - a 620 metre length between Unc 27.5 Sunderland Bridge and Footpath Number 44; B) Footpath Number 2 - a 274 metre length between Wood View and the junction with Footpath Number 3; C) Footpath Number 3 - a 25 metre length extending westwards from its inception adjacent to number 131 Wood View to enable Northumbrian Water Limited rising main works to be undertaken. Alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the; A) Northern side of the closure from Unc 27.5 south easterly to A167 then southerly and turning south westerly via B6288 Front Street then westerly past Wood View onto Footpath Number 3 leading onto Footpath Number 2 and to Bridleway Number 41 to the southern side of the closure; B) South eastern side of the closure northerly on Wood View then westerly on Footpath Number 3 leading to Footpath Number 2 to the north western side of the closure; C) Locally around the northern side of the closure and vice versa. There is no signed route for horse riders. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on 27/9/21 and are anticipated to be completed in 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
