Notice ID: SUT2193051
ST JOHN BOSCO COLLEGE
Notice is given in accordance with Section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that the Governing Board of St John Bosco College, Parkham Street, London, SW11 3DQ, intends to make a prescribed alteration to the College, from 1st April 2022.
The Savio resource base at St John Bosco College is currently approved for 25 pupils in Years 7 to 11 with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is proposed to increase the number of places to 45 and to extend the age range up to Year 13.
The Devereux resource base at St John Bosco College is currently approved for 7 pupils in Years 7 to 13 with an ASD or Social Communication Disorder (SCD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It is proposed to increase the number of places to 18.
Wandsworth Local Authority will continue to make referrals of pupils to the resource bases on the basis of their educational needs as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans. The College's normal admission criteria will not apply. The St John Bosco Governing Board will be the Admissions Authority and pupils in the resource bases will:
i) be included in the College's admission number of 150 per year group;
ii) be on the roll of St John Bosco College and the College will be responsible for their educational provision and the management of the base;
iii) will receive revenue funding via the national funding formula in line with other pupils in the school. In addition, the College will receive place funding and individual pupil top-up funding from the Council's High Needs Block within the Dedicated Schools Grant.
These proposals will help meet demand for additional local places for secondary-aged pupils with an ASD; and those with an ASD / SCD and associated SEMH needs / anxiety who would benefit from a mainstream curriculum and environment, but who need additional support to access. In addition to the proposals in this Notice, Wandsworth Local Authority is publishing statutory proposals to open resource bases at Granard Primary School for children with an ASD associated with Learning Difficulties and / or SEMH needs, and at Swaffield Primary School for children with ASD/ SEMH/anxiety or any combination of these needs; and increase capacity at Garratt Park Special School for young people with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and additional needs. The Burntwood Multi Academy Trust is also publishing proposals to open a resource base for girls with SEMH needs.
