BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The Brighton & Hove (Brighton Marathon) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2014 BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL is exercising their powers under Sections 16A to 16C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) together with all other enabling powers, hereby make the following Order.
On 6th April the Brighton Marathon will be taking place. The Brighton Marathon starts from Preston Park and from Withdean Park (2 start lines) at 9.15am with Road closures from 7am. Runners will proceed from Preston Park / Withdean Park south bound on the Preston Road and London Road, into the Laines at North Road, returning on to the Old Steine via North Street. Runners will continue up to the Level, travel north up Lewes Road, make a turn on to St Leonard's Road, Hasting Road and Franklin Road to return again on the Old Steine to St James Street. Runners will then head East into Kemptown and cut onto Marine Parade / Drive as far as Ovingdean. Runners will turn North into Greenways, Ovingdean and back before heading West bound back along A259 Marine Parade / Drive and on to Kings Road turning north at Grand Avenue. Runners will head West along Church Road, New Church Road and loop at Boundary Road, returning back to Grand Avenue, South bound on to A259 Kingsway to travel West to Basin Road. At this point runners head along Basin Road South looping back so runners continue on the footway known as Hove Esplanade / Hove lawns. At the Peace Statue runners return onto the road and head east on Kings Road to Madeira Drive, The Finish Area.
A large number of roads will be affected between 7am until 5pm on the day, please allow sufficient time for journeys across the City. The event organisers "The Grounded Events Company" have posted on their website a Traffic Management Document which includes a full list of roads affected and time of closures. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle that is not participating in, or connected with the Brighton Marathon to proceed in, exit from, or turn into any of the lengths of road on the Brighton Marathon Route, except upon the direction or with the permission of a Police Constable in uniform or that of a uniformed marshal between the hours of 06.00 hours and 22.00 hours on Sunday 6th April 2014; No parking, waiting, loading or unloading of a vehicle to take place on any of the lengths of carriageway on the Brighton Marathon Route to this Order and which constitute the Brighton Marathon Route between the hours of 18.00hrs on Saturday 5th April 2014 and 22.00hrs on Sunday 6th April 2014: This order shall be cited asThe Brighton & Hove (Brighton Marathon) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2014 Brighton and Hove City Council
