THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 39 NORTHBOUND & SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS AND SLIP ROADS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable replacement and upgrade barrier works, and other general maintenance to; be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on all traffic on the following sections of the M6 Motorway:

i. the northbound carriageway, from a point 2,162 metres north of Scout Green Bridge to a point 590 metres north of Kirkbank Bridge;

ii. the southbound carriageway, from a point 1,270 metres south of Capplerig Bridge, to a point 3,242 metres north of Sproatgill Bridge.

b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 Motorway:

i. the northbound carriageway, from the first point of the exit slip road at J39, to the last point of the entry slip road at J39;

ii. the southbound carriageway, from the first point of the exit slip road at J39, to the last point of the entry slip road at J39;

iii. the northbound exit and entry slip roads at J39;

iv. the southbound exit and entry slip roads at J39.

c) The Order will allow the hard shoulder adjacent to the M6 northbound and southbound carriageways as described in a) above. A 50 miles per hour speed limit will be imposed on all traffic using the hard shoulder.

d) The Order will impose width restrictions of 2 metres (7 feet) in lane 2 and 3.25 metres (10 feet 6 inches) in lane 1, as indicated by traffic signs, on the sections of the M6 Motorway described at a) above.

Restrictions a) and d) are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on Sunday 3 October 2021 and ending at 06:00 on Friday 17 December 2021. Prohibition b) i and ii and Restriction c) is expected to take place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 25 October 2021 and ending on Friday 17 December 2021. Prohibitions b) iii and iv are expected to take place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 4 October 2021 and ending on Friday 22 October 2021.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue, until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 Motorway will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
