The existing garden levels are approximately 30cm above the adjacent paving level. There is no retaining wall but a feather edge fence.
The lower part of the fence is prone to decay and soil washes onto the footpath. The proposal is to remove the existing boundary fence and replace it with a low structure (30cm) that can retain the garden soil and cover this structure with a fence, so it is not seen.
The retaining structure will be a low reinforced concrete plinth with a rebate so that the lower part of the fence can rest against it and cover it.
