SOUTHEND-ON-SEA BOROUGH COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, LEIGH-ON-SEA, WESTCLIFF-ON-SEA, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA & SHOEBURYBNESS - BOROUGH RESURFACING WORKS 2021/2022) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ENTRY & TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC FLOWS) ORDER 2021 ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)
Notice is hereby given that the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Effect of the order to temporarily prohibit entry into the roads/sections of roads listed below whilst the resurfacing works are carried out; and to temporarily suspend the one-way traffic flows in certain roads thereby making the roads two-way to allow access whilst the resurfacing works take place.
The closures/suspensions are scheduled to take place on various dates during the next 18 months and where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closures/suspensions will be signed in advance of the works commencing and diversion routes will also be signed on site. Letters will be delivered to all properties affected by the closures/suspensions informing them of the dates of the works and diversion routes(s). Whilst the closures/suspensions are in force, emergency services access will be maintained and access for residents will be maintained where possible.
The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2021 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. The closures/suspensions are required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst the resurfacing works are undertaken on the various roads listed.
The prohibitions or suspensions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any prohibition/ suspension imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
