A23 TRUNK ROAD (BOLNEY TO PATCHAM) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A23 Trunk Road in the County of West Sussex and the Unitary Authority of the City of Brighton and Hove, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. This forms an extension of Temporary Notice HE/2021/E607 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992, Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to authorise: -
1. the overnight closure of the southbound carriageway of the A23 between Bolney Interchange (A272) and Patcham Roundabout (A27), and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway; and
2. the 24-hour closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the length of carriageway described in 1. above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway, drainage, electrical, signage, bridge, geotechnical and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 5 weeks starting on or after Saturday 7th August 2021. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 7th August 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using the A24, A272, A275 and the A283. The diversion route will vary depending on desired destination. Access to properties within the closure will be maintained under escort. The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
