Temporary Closure of George Street, West Bay
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along GEORGE STREET, WEST BAY from its junction with North Side Basin, as indicated by signs on site. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 13 August 2021 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28 February 2022. Please note there will be a series of dates when the crane lifts are required and these will be displayed with advanced warning signs.
This Order will enable NMCN safe access to allow for the positioning of a crane to remove the flood gates across the sluice bridge. The crane will be set up at 0500hrs with lifting from 0600hrs, works complete by 1100hrs. An alternative vehicular route will be signed using; West Bay Road - George Street.
