THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (OSMOTHERLEY INTERCHANGE TO SOUTH KILVINGTON INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited Intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in the District of Hambleton, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be earned out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on Wednesday 30 June 2021 for 5 weeks or until completed.
that Highways England Company Limited Intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in the District of Hambleton, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be earned out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on Wednesday 30 June 2021 for 5 weeks or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the A19 southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at the A684 Osmotherley Interchange to the entry slip road at the A61 South Kilvington Interchange, a distance of 13400 metres;
(ii) close the A19 southbound entry slip road at Osmotherley Interchange;
(iii) close the A19 southbound exit slip road at South Kilvington Interchange;
(iv) close the gaps in the A19 central reservation between Osmotherley Interchange and South Kilvington Interchange; and
(v) ban traffic from entering or leaving the A19 southbound carriageway at its junctions leading to Thimbleby village, Over Silton village, Nether Silton village and Knayton village.
It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 southbound carriageway from Over Silton Junction to the entry slip road at South Kilvington Interchange, a distance of 9700 metres;
(ii) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 southbound exit and entry slip roads at Knayton Junction; and
(iii) close the laybys adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway between Osmotherley Interchange and South Kilvington Interchange.
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or winter maintenance purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A19. The Order comes into force on 29 June 2021 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
